The museum is located at 672 11th Street in downtown Oakland, at the
corner of 11th and Castro Streets, overlooking Interstate 980 and next
to Preservation Park. There is no parking on 11th Street, but free,
two-hour parking is available on Castro or Martin Luther King Jr. Streets, and metered parking is available on
12th Street. There is also a parking garage at the corner of 12th and Martin Luther King.
Motorists from the south on Interstate 880 should take the exit
marked "10th and 14th Streets," located where I-880 curves into I-980,
and proceed north two blocks to the museum. Motorists from San Francisco
or Berkeley should exit off I-580 onto I-980 and take the exit marked "11th
and 12th Streets." Turn left on 11th and the house is clearly visible once
you cross over the freeway.
Or, we are a delightful four-block walk from the 12th St. BART station,
through City Center, the Federal Building, and Preservation Park, and we
are also easily accessible from AC Transit buses, with many lines running
along Broadway and 14th St., and lines 14 and 62 providing direct service
to the house on 11th and 12th Streets.
